Meet MCPL

Jeanette Johnson
Jeanette Johnson, LA I at the Poolesville branch, began working for MCPL as a Shelving Assistant in 1977. She has worked at every branch whether as a substitute, on a temporary basis, or as a permanent staff member. Jeanette recently completed the Disney World Half-Marathon. Besides running, her hobbies and loves are, her cats; the US Civil War; photography; and birding.

James StewartJames Stewart came to MCPL in 2000, after over 40 years working at the Library of Congress, where he headed the Social Science and the Business Reading Rooms, among other duties. Over the course of his time at MCPL, Jim has worked as a sub, an Information Librarian, a Senior Librarian and a Branch Manager. He was the manager for a number of years at the Marilyn J. Praisner branch. He was energized by working with the public and the great staff there and was serving as manager when the Recreation Center and the Fairland Library were dedicated as the Marilyn J. Praisner Center. He currently is the newly appointed manager at the Quince Orchard branch in Gaithersburg. His motivation for coming to a great system such as MCPL was the opportunity it afforded to work more closely with the public. His greatest enjoyment is helping customers at the Information Desk. He loves reading widely, experiencing all varieties of music, and interacting with MCPL staff and the public.

Indira TurnerIndira Turner is the Library Assistant Supervisor at the Bethesda branch and has been with MCPL for 23 years, since 1993. She has worked at the following branches: Davis, Little Falls, Wheaton, and Bethesda. Indira’s interests are cooking, playing games on her iPhone, and spending time with her family. She feels the library has changed so much over the years because of technology and wants to see what happens next.
