Schools are back in session, and MCPL has some exciting ways to help everyone succeed!
In January, MCPL partnered with Montgomery County Public Schools to launch Library Link. This program is part of a national initiative to give students greater access to books, online resources, and much more by ensuring that every student has an opportunity to have their own library card. To date, MCPL has registered thousands of elementary students for library cards through Library Link.

Maybe you or someone you know left high school early without getting a diploma. MCPL wants to help re-write your story. As public libraries everywhere take on new roles, MCPL is raising the bar as the first library system in Maryland to offer Career Online High School—a nationally accredited, online, career-based high school completion program. We’ll help you pick up where you left off with three easy steps: 1) Complete an online self-assessment; 2) Successfully pass a two-week prerequisite course; and 3) Interview with our enrollment team. Upon completing these steps, your application will be considered for a seat. It’s that easy!
With your MCPL library card you can take free online courses and career training programs entirely over the Internet through Gale Courses. These highly interactive, instructor-led courses can be taken entirely online at your own pace. Course subject areas include: accounting and finance; business; college readiness; computer applications; design and composition; healthcare and medical; language and arts; law and legal; personal development; teaching and education; technology; and writing and publishing.
