Food for Fines

Donations collected during 2015 Food for Fines
We are excited to announce our 2nd annual Food for Fines event in support of Montgomery County’s Community Service Week.  From October 16 through October 30, 2016, bring canned goods or non-perishable food items to any one of MCPL’s open branches to pay your fines and help your community.

Every canned good or non-perishable food item you bring will reduce your existing fine or hold fee by one dollar ($1).  Don’t have fines or fees?  Anyone can donate food items at a library branch during the event.  Home-canned items, opened foods, or foods past their expiration dates cannot be accepted.

Requested food items include:

Instant oatmeal Dried or canned beans
Brown rice Natural nut butters
Whole grain pasta Milk boxes
Canned vegetables Cooking oils
Canned fruit Spices
Fruit cups Infant formula
Canned tuna, salmon or chicken, in water Baby food
Low sugar cereals Quinoa

Last year, through Food for Fines, we were able to donate approximately 240 bushels (6,000 pounds) of food to Manna Food Center.  We are looking forward to surpassing that total this year!

Join MCPL as we connect with Manna Food Center in “fighting hunger and feeding hope in Montgomery County.”
