On November 2, 2016, the Montgomery County Library Board, Friends of the Library and the Library Advisory Committees, held their annual Joint Meeting. During the reception, members of these groups had the opportunity to connect with and hear from County Executive Leggett; Council Vice President Roger Berliner; Susan Benton, CEO and President of Urban Libraries Council; and MCPL Director Parker Hamilton.

The meeting began with welcomes and remarks from Ellen Berman, President of the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County Inc. (FOLMC), Board of Trustees: Deborah Brooks, Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Library Board, and Tom Thomson, Chair of the FOLMC Advocacy Committee. Michael Wallace was presented with the David Chiles Member of the Year award for his work on behalf of the Twinbrook Library Advisory Committee. MCPL Director Parker Hamilton presented a brief overview of FY2016 and rolled out MCPL’s FY2017-2020 Strategic Plan.
