Meet Olney

The Olney branch of MCPL, located at 3500 Olney-Laytonsville Road in Olney, originally opened in May of 1982. The branch was closed in December 2010 for renovation, reopening in March 2014. Stop by and check out all the great services and resources including:

Joyce Edwards began her career at MCPL on July 9, 1990 working as a Library Desk Assistant at the Damascus branch.  At present, she is the Library Assistant Supervisor at the Olney branch and has served on numerous Committees throughout her career at MCPL. She is an avid reader of mysteries and especially likes listening to books on CD during her commute to and from work. Joyce is married, with an adult daughter, two cats named Jasper and Butch, and two Nubian goats, Jake and Buster. In her spare time, she lovingly tends to her flower and vegetable gardens.

Rania Abi Jomaa has been with MCPL for 16 years. She used to come to story time at the Wheaton branch with her son regularly, and eventually one of the librarians encouraged her to apply for a job at the library. She started as a page and later began her career at the Bethesda branch, and now is a part of Olney's wonderful team. She loves to work and experience Montgomery County's diversity and enthusiasm for public resources. Before joining the library system, Rania used to be a journalist, specializing in TV and radio, and used to have her own radio show. When she is not working, she loves to cook, read, be outdoors, and spend time with her family.

Thomas Le began working for MCPL in 1990 at the Germantown branch as a Library Desk Assistant.  He is currently working as a Library Assistant II at the Olney branch.  Thomas enjoys working for MCPL to provide quality service to customers and is happy to be part of the team at Olney Library. In his leisure time, he plays tennis, basketball, takes care of his two Chihuahua dogs (Lulu and Brownie) as well being "sound man" for his sons’ band. On occasion, he likes to travel to Vietnam with his family.
