On Saturday, April 8, at 10:00 AM, County Executive Isiah Leggett will hold an official ceremony to reopen the Davis branch.
Closed on July 16, 2016, Davis is the third MCPL branch to be modernized using the award-wining innovative approach introduced in our FY13-16 Strategic Facilities Plan and implemented by the County Executive's Library Refurbishment Level of Effort Capital Improvement Program.
The work to refresh the Davis branch included:
- Painting
- Replacement of carpet
- New checkout and information desks
- Enhanced Children's area
- Teen space with seating and collection
- Collaboration Spaces
- ADA upgrade of public restrooms on main and lower levels
- New furniture, including new tables in the teen area and adult reading room
- New lighting for library’s outdoor sign
- Additional powered work areas
- New vending machines and café seating area on lower level
- Improvements to large and small meeting rooms
- Laptop lane
- 10 laptops for in-building use
- Drinking fountain with bottle filling station
- 12 Internet PCs and 2 catalog PCs in the Adult area
- 1 Internet PC in the Children’s area
- ADA PC workstation with large print keyboard, CCTV electric magnifier and OCR plus specialized software
- 1 AWE Early Literacy workstation
- Digital display near the Information Desk and in Children’s room
- Under MCPL’s ACE (All Children Excel) Initiative, STEM related GO! Kits for checkout on science-based topics including “Little Explorers Go! Kits” for preschool children and “Young Voyagers Go! Kits” for elementary school aged children
- Two self-checkout machines
- Enhanced Wi-Fi
- Charging station for mobile devices
