FOLMC held our first ever Vintage Vinyl record auction in February 2017 at our Rockville
bookstore located at 4886 Boiling Brook Parkway. We sold 53 lots and raised nearly $1,000. The lot that earned the most, going for $70, was Kurzwellen by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The record was one of the 1968-1969 performances of electronium and short wave radio and instrumental transformations.

The inaugural auction was such a success we will hold a second one on Saturday, July 15, 12 PM at the same location. Soul Station by Hank Mobley will be on the block, as well as collectibles by the Beatles, and Miles Davis. Visit the FOLMC homepage for more details and a full catalog, which will be available a week before the auction.

A preview will be held on Friday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Proxy and remote bids are welcome. Email bookstores@folmc.org to inquire about submitting bids.

FOLMC Membership

The auction is one of many ways we raise funds to support MCPL. Joining or renewing your membership is another easy way to support your libraries. Your membership funds programs with lifelong benefits such as MCPL’s Summer Read and Learn, which helps students learn new skills and prevent summer slide.

As a valued member, you will enjoy special benefits such as a discount at our two used bookstores. And as an added bonus, the first 100 people who join or renew at the $50 level or higher will receive a free tote bag. It’s great for carrying your books to the beach for summer-time reading. Visit the FOLMC membership page. Hurry, this offer ends June 30.
