Meet Twinbrook

The Twinbrook Library, located at 202 Meadow Hall Drive in Rockville, was the first MCPL branch to be be refreshed. It re-opened in January 2016 with improved spaces for teens, computers users, and children.  Customers can book one of the three new collaboration spaces for quiet study, tutoring, group study, and the like.  When the weather is nice, enjoy the branch’s newly outfitted courtyard. Customers enjoy the convenient location, nestled in the Twinbrook Shopping Center and adjoining neighborhood, and the excellent customer service.

Eric Carzon, Twinbrook Branch Manager, was born and raised in Maryland, a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park School of Public Policy.  Eric has served twenty years in Montgomery County Government, as a budget analyst, project manager, and MCPL business manager, before his current assignment.  He’s trying to broaden his steady diet of science/technology books, fantasy, and science fiction novels, but ask him anything about Dune, Game of Thrones, Stephen King, or Star Wars.  Eric writes songs and plays guitar in his spare time, and is a big music fan.  He likes to make eclectic song mixes, and is a regular user of MCPL’s Freegal music service, and other music collections in MCPL and across the state.  His long-term career goal is to direct the first interstellar library organization.

Kathy Gower really enjoys working at the Twinbrook branch as a children's librarian.  She loves doing Wednesday storytimes as well as a monthly bedtime storytime.  Picture books are her absolute favorite, and she hopes they will be around forever!  Her favorite children's author and illustrator team are Philip and Erin Stead.  She has been a librarian with MCPL for 17 years, and is married with 3 children ages 24, 22 and 17.  When she is not working, she enjoys reading, traveling, walking outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and belonging to her Church.

Robin Pachtman has been enjoying her past six months at Twinbrook as an adult librarian while Aspen Hill undergoes its refresh.  She loved being able to see some of her Aspen Hill customers at the Twinbrook Library while getting to know the customers and the staff here.  She will miss all the staff and customers as she moves to her new post at the Gaithersburg branch.  Robin spends most of her spare time making fun crafts from paper and ladder yarn.

Joseph Tucker came to MCPL in 1999 as a Library Desk Assistant at the Wheaton branch.  After a nine-month leave of absence in 2001, during which time he traveled Western Europe and Scandinavia and participated in a study abroad program in Madrid, he returned to MCPL, assigned to the Aspen Hill branch.  Since 2005, he has been a Library Assistant I at the Wheaton, Aspen Hill and Twinbrook branches, where he has enjoyed working with the diverse communities and making sure their every need is met.  He finds that his stays abroad, together with his Spanish-language skills, have enabled him to engage more fully with newcomers to the library system, making them feel at home.  Beyond MCPL, Joseph enjoys outdoor activities, like biking, hiking and tennis, yard work, and reading.

Elizabeth Valderrama is currently the teen/adult Library Associate II at Twinbrook Library.  She enjoys all things crafty. When not reading a good mystery or suspense novel, you'll find her hiking, taking pictures, and/or cooking.
