Meet MCPL

Michael Kwame DjanMichael Kwame Djan (The middle name is for all boys born on Saturday in Ghana. The D in last name is silent), was born and raised in Accra, the capital city in the West African nation of Ghana. He is the Program Specialist in charge of all data and statistics needed by MCPL to further its strategic plan and goals. Prior to joining MCPL in February 2017, Michael worked with Baltimore City Police Department as the Research and Management Analyst, where he collected, compiled, verified, analyzed, and interpreted data for proposals, presentations, and recommendations. He also worked with the Maryland State Highway Administration and the Baltimore City Department of General Services in similar capacities. As a student intern in Norway, Michael worked with Statoil Hydro, the Norwegian state oil and gas company. His academic and professional experiences also brought him in close working relationships with college librarians and the vast treasure trove of information and knowledge that libraries offer. Michael received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana, a Master of Science degree in Globalization from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. In his free time, Michael likes to relax with a good book, listen to gospel and classical music, watch a movie, and work out in the gym to keep fit. His favorite book as a teenager was Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. It tells the story of a poor young man who discovered a secret to open a cave full of treasure.
