MoComCon 2018 is almost here! We are excited to hold our second comic convention on January 27 (February 10 “weather date”), 11 AM to 4 PM at Silver Spring Library. MoComcon is an action-packed, fun-filled event for the entire family.
To help you get ready, we have planned a number of great lead-up events that include an interactive Harry Potter movie experience, making an optical illusion toy, and brushing up on your fandom knowledge with our fandom Jeopardy game. See all the lead-up events on page 15 of our Check Us Out calendar of events.
MoComCon 2018 will be a blast! There will be a superhero storytime, a Harry Potter themed escape room, Google Expeditions, fandom rooms, an art contest, and many great exhibitors. Attendees can also enjoy table crafts, a dragon egg craft, and an LED light wand craft. We also have a panel of local comic book artists who will share what inspires them, workshops on writing and publishing sci-fi and fantasy, and presentations by author Marc Tyler Nobleman and library media specialist Matthew Winner, co-creator of All the Wonders.

Cosplay participants at 2017 MoComCon |
A comic convention would not be complete without a cosplay contest. Children, teens, and adults are invited to dress as their favorite characters from comic books, anime, TV series, live-action films, cartoons, and video games. Don your capes, shields, winged googles, masks, communicator badges, and all your costume pieces, except weapons, for this exciting contest. No weapons, including replica and costume pieces, will be allowed inside of the event.
MoComCon is open to the entire Montgomery County community free of charge.
