Summer is right around the corner! Let MCPL connect you to resources, materials, and services to
help make your summer delightful.
Summer Read and Learn will kick off on June 9 and run through September 9. This year’s theme is, “Libraries Rock!” Read a book of poetry, learn a song in another language, create a nature journal, make up a new dance, attend a library program, or create a pet rock. Read, learn, and track your progress to earn some really cool prizes.
There will be extended weekend hours during the summer at the Connie Morella (Bethesda), Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville Memorial, and Silver Spring branches beginning Friday, June 1, 2018 through Saturday, August 25, 2018. Science in the Summer: The Science of Space gives children the opportunity to explore the sun’s energy, the phases of the moon, human survival in space, and how rockets overcome Earth’s gravity. There are morning sessions for grades 2 -3 and afternoon sessions are for grades 4 – 6.
The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, through its Energy Express— Energy Rocks program, provides hands-on, interactive presentations to get kids (and parents) more connected to where electricity comes from and the importance of not wasting it. Find out how you can rock at home by conserving energy (and money).
Check out our Workforce and Business Development programs including small business development, job seeking skills, investing, protecting finances, and retirement planning.
