Beginning a new position is always challenging, whether coming in new to MCPL or being promoted or transferred from another MCPL position. These two "newbies" are making it look easy!
Raymond Bryson joined MCPL’s Digital Strategies team in September 2018. He is passionate about developing and supporting digital strategies that help make the library a better place and a better experience for people. This means you can usually hear Raymond enthusiastically advocate for adopting current best practices in the digital sphere and pitching all kinds of experiments involving emerging technologies and new digital practices to learn what will make visiting the library a great experience. He likes to pair useful with fun and throw in a pinch of humor whenever he can. In his spare time, Raymond likes to learn how to build and create things and hang out with his family and friends.
Celia Ramirez joined MCPL in early 2013 as a Circulation substitute. She has worked in all but two of MCPL’s branches. This allowed her to meet many Library employees as well as pick up many skills necessary for being a circulation worker and working with customers. In December 2013, she was hired as a Library Desk Assistant for the Bethesda branch; she worked there until its closing for the refresh project in August 2017. In September 2017, she was promoted to a part time Library Assistant I at Gaithersburg Library. Besides her many off desk duties, such as covering and labeling new and donated books, she loved to keep the library looking nice and neat. You would often find her fixing the Baker & Taylor display. In October 2018, she started her new position in the Central Office as Principal Administrative Aide. She is excited to bring the experience that she gained working at a library branch to the Central Office. Celia is an avid reader of psychological thrillers.
