. . . that MCPL has engaging comics and graphic novels for kids, teens, and adults? From comedic to historical fiction, realistic to manga, you can find comics and graphic novels in your favorite genres. Want to meet others who love comics and graphic novels as much as you do? Come to our third comic convention, MoComCon, on January 19 from 12 PM - 4 PM (Inclement weather date February 2) at the Silver Spring Library. The event will include an exciting variety of panels, workshops, programs, displays, exhibits, and cosplay - all free of charge. Discover new and exciting comics and graphic novels @ MCPL!
Join us January 19*, at Silver Spring Library for MoComCon, MCPL's annual comic-con! The con has been a time to showcase local professional and amateur talent and celebrate comics, superheroes, fantasy, science fiction, gaming, and more. There's something for all ages, from preschoolers to senior adults.
This year brings back some favorites from the previous year and offers new presentations and activities. It's small by con standards, but packed with things to do and see, from the first storytime at 10 AM until the costume contest ends at 4 PM. MoComCon will be busy, noisy, fun, and free!
Before the con officially starts at noon, we'll offer two superhero storytimes for little kids. One at 10 AM and 10:45 AM.
If you enjoy wearing costumes, get to the library early to register for the cosplay contest. Registration starts at 11 AM. Remember to read the guidelines and start putting together your costume!
Sign-ups start at 11 AM for one of two "Speedy Escape Room" experiences. One is Harry Potter-themed for ages 8-13. The other is Game of Thrones-themed for ages 14 and up. Have fun solving the clues with friends or family members!
Author and book reviewer Don Sakers is giving a science fiction and fantasy writing workshop for teens and adults again this year, this time in a larger room to accommodate more aspiring authors. Can't make it to see Don at MoComCon on January 19th? He's is also doing a writing workshop for teens and adults before the con at Olney Library on Wednesday, January 9 at 6 PM.
